I may take 2 vacations per year, so personally, it’s a no for me. But check with your employer, a lot of major companies have special accounts/ discounts that you can be a part of just by being their employee. Airlines tend to have better incentives for corporate accounts.
There are not many perks to these flyer programs other than an occasional discounted ticket, which you can achieve yourself with a little research and stalking the sites for low prices.
It all depends on the TYPE of program you sign up for. I’m in a business travel program and it’s definitely worth it. I fly for work 2-3 times per month. I get upgrades sometimes from business to first class and of course free goodies, food, alcohol, etc.
Yes, if you are a frequent flyer. No if you just want a quick discount.
